Types of Artificial intelligence are based on their capabilities :-
1. Narrow AI - In the present era, Narrow AI is the most common type of AI. It represents all the existing AI, inclusive of the most complicated and capable AI. This type of AI has its limitation to perform a task as it can perform only one specific task and cannot go beyond its field. As there is a progressive growth in a machine and deep learning methods, narrow AI applications are becoming very common in our daily lives.
A good example of NAI is Apple Siri that is operated with a limited pre-defined range of functions. Another example is the IBM Watson supercomputer which uses an expert system approach that is combined with ML( Machine Learning ) and NLP( Natural Language Processing ) to process information. More such examples of Narrow AI include speech recognition, image recognition, google translate, self-driving cars, Google's page-ranking algorithm, and spam filtering. NAI is also considered as a "Weak AI" as it functions under a limited set of constraints.
2. General AI - General AI is a type of AI that would have the ability to learn, perceive, understand, and function entirely like a human being. It could perform any intellectual task efficiently. Presently, no systems exist which would come under General AI. Researchers are now focusing on developing machines with General AI and it is believed that soon they will be able to create such systems. It will take a lot of effort and time for implementing it. This system will replicate humans as it will be smarter and will be able to make decisions just like humans. General Artificial intelligence is also known as "Strong AI" , is still evolving and its result might be very revolutionary for humans.
3. Super AI - Super AI is the stage of AI when the capability of computers will exceed the capabilities of human beings. In AI research, this would be considered as the peak achievement in the future. These machines could perform any task better than humans. It would include features such as greater memory, faster data processing, and the capability of decision making . It is a hypothetical concept of AI. Some critical characteristics of Super AI are thinking, reasoning, solving puzzles, making judgements, planning, learning, making decisions on its own, etc. It can conceivably take over the world as it would be much more powerful than humans and could also displace them.
